Hire a Michelin Star Chef

Book a Michelin star chef for private dining at home, chef-led tasting evenings, masterclasses and luxury corporate occasions across the United Kingdom and Europe. A starred chef brings a restaurant standard of cooking to your table, along with the discipline and precision that earned the star in the first place.

At Celebrity Experiences we arrange these engagements through Starred, our dedicated culinary concierge. One point of contact handles the introduction, the menu, the logistics and the paperwork, so the only thing you need to think about is the evening itself.

Every booking is private. Most of the occasions we arrange are never made public, and NDAs are arranged wherever they are wanted.

What a Michelin Star Means for Your Table

The Michelin guide awards its stars to restaurants rather than to individuals, so a chef is described as starred when the kitchen they lead holds the accolade. One star recognises very good cooking in its category. Two stars mark cooking worth a detour. Three stars, the rarest award of all, mark cooking worth a journey in its own right.

For a private engagement the level matters less than what it tells you about the kitchen behind it: consistency under pressure, sourcing relationships that most private cooks cannot reach, and a brigade trained to send out the same plate every single time. That is what you are engaging when you book a starred chef rather than a talented private cook.

Ways to Host a Michelin Star Chef

  • Private dining at home: a full restaurant-grade service in your own kitchen, from sourcing through to service and clearing
  • Chef's table and tasting menus: intimate, story-led courses with the chef introducing each dish as it lands
  • Masterclasses: cook alongside a starred chef, privately or as a team, detailed in our private masterclass guide
  • Yachts, villas and residencies: multi-day commissions in the UK and across Europe, including provisioning and crew
  • Corporate and hospitality: investor dinners, client entertaining, launches and awards, explored in our corporate chef guide

What Hosting a Starred Chef Involves

A starred chef rarely arrives alone. Expect a small brigade, a detailed equipment list and either a pre-visit or a call about your kitchen. Domestic kitchens are almost always workable, and where something is missing we bring it in rather than compromise the menu.

We ask for guest numbers, dietary requirements and any wine you would like the menu built around at the point of enquiry. Sourcing for a starred menu begins days ahead rather than hours, and some ingredients are secured against a fixed date.

How Far Ahead to Book

Starred chefs run restaurants, and a service they miss is a service their own guests notice. Three to six months is comfortable for a particular chef on a particular date. Shorter notice is often possible, but the field of available names narrows quickly, and December is effectively closed by early autumn.

What It Costs

Fees start from around £20,000 and rise with the chef's profile, the format and the location. A tasting dinner for eight sits at a different level to a multi-day residency abroad or a brand engagement carrying usage rights. Every quote is bespoke, discreet and free of hidden costs.

Michelin Star Chefs Across the UK

We arrange starred chefs throughout the United Kingdom, not only in London. Most engagements are in London and the Home Counties, where the density of starred kitchens is highest, but we regularly place chefs in the Cotswolds, Scotland, the Lake District and coastal Cornwall, and in private residences anywhere the logistics can be made to work.

Outside the major cities the constraint is rarely the chef and almost always the kitchen and the sourcing. Both are solvable with enough notice, which is the practical reason we ask for three to six months on a country house or an island booking.

Michelin Star Chef Hire: Common Questions

How do I hire a Michelin star chef?

Tell us the date, the location, the number of guests and the kind of evening you have in mind. We will come back with a shortlist of starred chefs who are genuinely available, along with what each would bring to the occasion, and we handle the approach and the negotiation from there.

How much does it cost to hire a Michelin star chef?

Fees start from around £20,000 and move with the chef's profile, the format and the location. A private tasting dinner sits at a different level to a multi-day residency overseas or a brand engagement carrying usage rights. Every quote is prepared individually and carries no hidden costs.

Can a Michelin star chef cook in my home kitchen?

Almost always, yes. Starred chefs work in domestic kitchens regularly and are used to adapting. We arrange a call or a pre-visit to check the space, and where equipment is missing we bring it in rather than change the menu to suit the room.

How far in advance should I book?

Three to six months gives you a real choice of names for a specific date. Shorter notice is frequently possible, particularly midweek and outside the festive season, but the field narrows. December bookings are usually settled by early autumn.

What is Starred by Celebrity Experiences?

Starred is our dedicated culinary concierge. It exists so that one person manages the whole engagement, from the first introduction through menu design, logistics, contracts and the evening itself, rather than passing you between a booker, an agent and a caterer.

Can I book a Michelin star chef outside the UK?

Yes. We arrange starred chefs across Europe and further afield, including villas, chalets and yachts. Travel, insurance, equipment and local compliance are managed for you, and we build the extra lead time these bookings need into the plan from the start.

Can I choose the menu?

The menu is designed with you. Most clients begin with a conversation about the occasion, the season and any wine they want built around, and the chef proposes from there. Dietary requirements, cultural considerations and specific dishes are all part of that discussion.

Can a Michelin star chef work with a brand or on camera?

Yes. Starred chefs take on launches, press days, filmed content and ambassadorships. Anything involving filming or the use of a chef's name and likeness is licensed separately from the appearance itself, and we settle that before contracts are signed.

Will my booking stay private?

Yes. Discretion is the default rather than an added extra. NDAs are arranged wherever they are wanted, and the majority of the occasions we arrange are never made public by us or by the chef.

Not sure a starred kitchen is the right fit? A recognised name from television brings a different kind of presence, and our television chefs are arranged separately.
